Jul. 13, 2017 Anna Hogg, of the United Kingdom’s Centre for Polar Observation and Modelling at the University of Leeds reported an iceberg about the size of Delaware (2,300 square miles) calved off of the Larsen C ice shelf on the Antarctic Peninsula due to climate change. It is a big deal. There will be more as the polar ice cap melts.

On Dec. 3, 2012 The New Yorker’s James Surowiecki wrote “Disaster Economics” about how it is cheaper for a government to prevent a disaster than to pay for cleaning up after one. We need more investment in building infrastructure to survive increasingly larger disasters from climate change.
