May 16, 2017 Frelinghuysen Forces Avelenda Out Of Lakeland Bank Job

On May 16 2017, NPR’s Nancy Solomon reported “N.J. Activist Says GOP Congressman’s Complaint Forced Her To Quit Her Job.” Saily Avelenda belongs to a community organization called NJ 11th for Change that opposes Donald Trump’s policies. She also worked for Lakeland Bank but resigned after U.S. Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen wrote a letter to one of the bank’s board of directors saying “P.S. one of the ringleaders works for your bank!”

Jordan Leibowitz of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) said “It’s certainly troubling,” “Whether or not it breaks a criminal statute is one issue, but the very clear issue is that it appears that a member of Congress might be using his power to threaten someone’s employment because of their political activities.”

New Jersey is the kind of place that if somebody forces you out of job, they might just force you out of a job. Vote.
