Some reporters were roughed up and arrested by police at last week’s convention for creating a disturbance. Actually they were trying to cover lobbyist events. To paraphrase Mayor John Daley from the 1968 Chicago convention, the press isn’t there to create disorder, the press is there to cover disorder. Anytime any reporter is refused access to any event it means something bad is happening and the public has a right to know. On that note: Read the rest of this entry »

Ben Stiller got some friends together and made a very funny movie about movies. Half the fun is trying to figure out who they are making fun of. There are fake previews at the start of the film that introduce each of the characters. There is the Scharzenegger/Stallone action hero. There is the Eddie Murphy/Chris Farrel gross-out comedian. There is the Heath Ledger/Tobey Maguire serious actor. There is the Ice-T/Snoop Dog rapper. All of them are brought together to make a Vietnam movie that tries to be Apocalypse Now, Platoon, Missing in Action and any other overwrought action epic.
