In June 1968 Senator Robert F. Kennedy won the California primary and lost his life walking through the kitchen at the Ambassador Hotel. Many of us walked through that kitchen and into forty years of wilderness. Each of us found our own way and wound up meeting again in a hostile future.

Bobby discovered toward the end of his life that the problems of other people are your problems. We live in the world he saw, where the problems we create come back to haunt us. There is no place to hide now. We must fix things. The lesson I learned from Bobby is that it takes more than one person to change history. No matter who wins this current race we won’t be able to walk away from the voting booth and say we did our bit. We will have keep an eye on things until the future is visibly changed from the present. Politics is too important to leave to politicians.

We can no longer leave change to chance.
