Iron Man

djcdvd.jpg

A few months ago I saw the movie trailer and said “I have to see this.” Well, I’ve seen it. Text from DJCline.com.

I like Robert Downey. I first saw him in Rodney Dangerfield’s comedy Back To School, then in the cautionary Less Than Zero. I thought he captured Charle Chaplin well. After his personal problems he came fighting back in the film noir of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang with Val Kilmer. The fact that he was cast as Stark/Iron Man helped me decide to see it.

He’s good. He’s having fun and so did I. The bad guys are idiots, but that’s what makes them bad guys. Stark is a sort of Howard Hughes guy. In my line of work I meet lots of eccentric high tech millionaires who love to tinker and make jokes. Eventually they see the dark side of their work and so does Stark. There is nothing so eye-opening as seeing technology you’ve created destroy something (or someone). Beyond that don’t look for logic or reason in a superhero movie.

Of course this an action movie, so the way to peace is more violence. There is a big fight scene at the end. There is also a surprise, but I’ll leave that at the theater for you. I can’t. It’s too funny. Stay after the really long credits and you will see Nick Fury of SHIELD.

Recommended.

Absolutely fantastic film. Will be on the ’see repeatedly’ list for me. Superb. Downey hits it WAAAAY out of the park. Nice work by Bridges - he’s a convincing and hate-able bad guy. Pepper Potts… oh migawd oh MigAWD…OH. MAH. GAWD. Hotter than Iron Man’s rocket-boots. sssssssss
