Arthur C. Clarke Dead

British science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke is dead. He is best known for his collaboration with Stanley Kubrick for the film 2001: A Space Oddysey, but had a career as a scientist helping pilots land planes by radar duing WWII and working out the details of geosynchronous orbits.

Always a fan of pulp science fiction he would read the magazines that were used as ballast in ships from America. One of my favorite stories is called “History Lesson”. The earth is overcome by glaciers and the sole remnant of human civilization is a cartoon. It makes you wonder what others will make of what humans will leave behind.

I wonder if a black monolith showed up when he died?
