There has been quite a bit of speculation on the stock market recently and discussion as to whether the economy is in recession. Investors are in a panic and want to pull their money out. Oh ye of little faith. Unlike communism, pure capitalism is a system that works even if nobody has any faith in it. In the long run it always pays off, so I wouldn’t unload anytime soon.

If you want the long term perspective, I recommend Steve Fraser’s book. It’s about public perceptions of Wall Street over the past two hundred years. It is useful for market analysts. Not recommended for casual reading, but don’t sell it short.
