Toner Tales
It finally happened, I ran out of toner for my laser printer.
I was using the same toner cartridge that came with my laser printer three years ago. For that matter I am still on the same box of paper. I did the green thing and put the old cartridge in the new box and sent it to the recycling center.
This was another reminder of how much things have changed. I used to go through toner every couple of weeks. leaving a Sasquatch-sized carbon footprint to pay my bills. I’m using less and less paper over time.
It made me think about why I still had a printer. Perhaps I could combine the uses of my color inkjet printer with the black and white printer. Shopping around you can get a very nice color laser printer for about four hundred dollars. Unfortunately to replace all the toner cartridges would cost… about four hundred dollars.
By this logic it would be cheaper to buy a brand new color laser printer every few months. You would get a new machine ready to go. As usual I’m sure the manufacturers have got it all figured out. In the mean time I’ll avoid printing anything to avoid putting money into their pockets and trash in the landfill.
