2007 Obituaries

Here are my annual obituaries. If you can’t speak well of the dead, try to be funny.

Jerry Falwell - Do you think he is surprised that despite his efforts, heaven is a crowded place. Oh, and it’s fabulous!

Gerald Ford - He tripped and fell into a casket. Chevy Chase did not attend the funeral.

Norman Mailer - America’s greatest living author is not living anymore. No matter where he winds up, he will meet someone who has a greater ego than his own.

Marcel Marceau - A moment of silence. He was killed after being knocked down by a high wind and was buried in an invisible box.

Kurt Vonnegut - And so it goes. And so he went. I wonder if he hears the static at the end of the radio dial? I had not seen him in twenty years but was always impressed with his ability to be funny in the face of so much personal and public tragedy.
