Grand Canyon Global Warming

The first picture below was taken ten years ago on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. The second was taken a few weeks ago on the North Rim.

Ten years ago there were at least two meters of snow on the South Rim. This year there wasn’t a snowflake in the sky on the North Rim. The North Rim is usually closed due to snow by mid-October. I was there in November, in my shirtsleeves.

Is it climate change? Is it an extreme variation in weather cycles? The word that comes to mind is “koyannisqatsi”.
